At Hand Up Ministries, our staff members are much more than employees

Many of our staff members once walked the same difficult road as the men they now serve. They understand what it feels like to leave prison or experience homelessness with nowhere to turn. Because they have experienced the challenges of rebuilding a life, they offer something no textbook can teach—understanding, compassion, and genuine hope.

Every day, our staff members work side by side with residents, helping them make the transition from surviving to thriving. Their mission is not simply to supervise a program, but to help restore lives, rebuild confidence, and guide each resident toward independence.

A Typical Day at Hand Up Ministries

From early morning until evening, our staff members are actively involved in every aspect of daily life at Hand Up Ministries Campuses. They welcome new residents with dignity and respect, helping them settle into a safe place they can call home. They provide food, clothing, bedding, personal necessities, and orientation so every new resident understands the expectations and opportunities available through Hand Up Ministries.

Throughout the week, staff members assist residents with:

• Welcoming and orienting new residents

• Housing assignments and move-in assistance

• Employment searches and job placement

• Transportation to job interviews and work

• Medical, dental, and prescription appointments

• Obtaining identification, Social Security cards, and other essential documents

• Budgeting and financial responsibility

• Counseling and emotional support

• Spiritual encouragement and Bible studies

• Chapel services and prayer

• Case management and progress reviews

• Conflict resolution and accountability

• Maintaining a clean, safe, and respectful living environment

• Life skills, responsibility, and personal growth

• Preparing residents for successful independent living
