Coats to Caring
From a Class Project to a Mission

The Coats to Caring Program was created by Hand Up Ministries resident Billy Landry. What began as a class project quickly grew into a meaningful effort to help fellow residents stay warm during Oklahoma’s colder months. Using his own time and resources, Billy turned his idea into action and began building support throughout the community.

Building Community Support
Billy reached out to churches throughout the Oklahoma City area to request coat donations and financial support. With positive responses and commitments from several churches, he continues to grow the program and seek new community partners. Coats to Caring informational materials are also being shared through local businesses to help spread the word.
Help Us Keep Residents Warm
Winter can be especially challenging for Hand Up Ministries residents who work outdoors both on and off our residential campuses. Donations of new or gently used coats, as well as financial contributions, help ensure residents have the warm clothing they need. Your support of Coats to Caring provides more than warmth. It is a simple, practical way to show someone that their community cares.
