The True Love Club is a Christ-centered fellowship created by Hand Up Ministries, Inc. to help individuals rediscover the true meaning of love through the teachings of Jesus Christ.

No matter your past, your struggles, or where life has taken you, you are loved by God and worthy of redemption. The True Love Club is a place of encouragement, healing, and spiritual growth for men and women searching for hope, purpose, and transformation.

Many people today are dealing with broken relationships, addiction, loneliness, rejection, incarceration, homelessness, anxiety, and emotional pain. The True Love Club reminds every person that true love is not condemnation—it is mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and restoration through Jesus Christ.

Hand Up Ministries, Inc. has developed the TRUE LOVE CLUB as a Christ‑centered fellowship designed to restore hearts and transform lives through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
This program can be adopted by churches, ministries, recovery programs, and outreach organizations across the country.
Program Purpose:
• Teach the true meaning of Christian love
• Encourage mercy over judgment
• Help individuals rebuild their lives through faith
• Provide spiritual guidance for those recovering from addiction, incarceration, homelessness, and broken relationships

I began writing poetry, and prayers, as a way to express my true thoughts, feelings, and emotions in a positive and meaningful manner. Poetry gives me a safe place to pour out what is in my heart-my joys, my struggles, my prayers, and my gratitude to God. Sometimes words spoken out loud don’t fully capture what I feel, but when I write, my heart seems to speak more clearly. Through poetry and prayers, I can reflect on God’s goodness, work through life’s challenges, and share encouragement with others. ​“Before coming to Hand Up Ministries, Inc I believed my life was over. The True Love Club helped me understand that God still loved me and had a plan for my life.”
​I had a good childhood. I was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas, but we moved to Oklahoma when I was young. I had three brothers and one sister. I was the oldest. I was also the black sheep of the family. After I graduated from high school I went to work to try to help my dad. I started drinking and partying. I still had a job, but my drinking got worse. I got married, but the marriage only lasted a year.
I continued drinking, and I got married a second time. We had a son, and this this marriage lasted six years. I went to prison. I was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration and five years of probation. My parents passed away when I was in prison. It was hard for a while, but I got through it. I went to Hand Up Ministries after I was released from prison.
I got a job working for Hand Up the second week I was at Hand Up. Hand Up helps me, but I also have to help myself. I have been homeless before, and it is no joke. I am grateful for Hand Up’s help. I have trust issues. I believe in the Creator. I ponder life as I get older. Life is what you make it. I thank David Nichols and Hand Up for giving me a chance.

My mom and dad always had conversations about the love of God. During my early life I began to not think straight, and I started making mistakes that got me into trouble. I worked as a truck driver hauling wheat, corn, and other products. Since that time I have worked several different jobs to keep myself independent and stable.
I committed a crime, and I was convicted of that crime. I had a lot of remorse. I knew I shouldn’t have done it. I made a big mistake that cost me my freedom, and it destroyed the trust I had gained in life. I attended church when I was in prison, and I continued to attend church after I was released from prison. It was during church attendance outside of prison that I learned of the program Hand Up Ministries offers to offenders who have discharged from prison and want to get their life back on track. Hand Up helps people become stable and productive citizens after they enter back into the community.
I understand my mistakes, and I am committed to learning from my mistakes and staying on the right track. Hand Up Ministries has helped me to better understand my life, and Hand Up has given me the opportunity to create a stable and productive life. I am now capable of changing my life for the better. Believing in God has helped me to understand my mistakes. His love will never leave me, and I can grow to be a better person. I thank God daily for the life He has given me.

I remember my dad being very abusive to us when I was five years old. My brothers and I would go outside and play Star Trek, throw rocks at each other, and throw rocks at trains. Dad was always drinking alcohol when he would get abusive. I was in special education classes, and kids picked on me and made fun of me because I was in those classes. They put me down because I wasn’t like them.
My mom committed suicide in 1980, which was the year I graduated from high school. I left the funeral home, and I went to Oklahoma City. I started drinking alcohol, and I stayed drunk for 10 years. I lived on the street. I didn’t know the Lord at that time. I got a job at Oklahoma Starter Drive in Lexington, Oklahoma. I drank on the weekends. I was a foreman. I would cash my paycheck and buy alcohol. I stayed drunk for 15 years.
I was living next door to a family in Purcell. We had cookouts and movie nights. I hung out with friends, and we would drink for hours. I struggled with bills, and I got evicted from my house. I got convicted of a crime, and I spent 15 years in prison. I went to church in prison and I heard about Hand Up Ministries in church. I gave my life to God in prison. I started to help others in prison, and I am still doing it now.
Hand Up has given me a roof over my head, and Hand Up helped me with food and my medical needs. I got to meet Ray, David, and Tim. We always talked about the Lord and what He has done for us. I found out about Love Foundation, and I moved to Hand Up’s Chandler location. Hand Up gave me a ride to Chandler. I love the services there, and I have made many friends. They help with meds. I know I can always ask John Hider and Joshua Roberts for help, and I can talk to them about things. God has given me life, and He has blessed me with a place to live. He walks with me, and He leads me on a path I never expected. I love the Lord.
