         My Story

There is something truly meaningful about seeing your 20-year-old self standing beside your 65-year-old self. The young man filled with dreams, hopes, and his whole life ahead of him now stands beside a man who has lived, loved, endured hardships, and overcome many trials. Today, that man serves God, encourages countless people, and continues to walk by faith and love.

What makes this image especially powerful is that both men are wearing crosses. It beautifully illustrates that my faith has remained a vital part of my journey throughout all these years. The younger Otis and the older Otis are connected not only by time, but also by the same heart, the same values, and the same devotion to the Lord.

In many ways, this picture seems to say:

"The young man became the man God created him to be, and the man his mother faithfully hoped and prayed he would become."

Perhaps my 20-year-old self would look at the man I am today and say:

"Only by the love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness of God did I make it. I kept going, I kept believing, and by God's strength I managed to keep my faith and my heart."

Thank you for allowing me to share my experience of "hanging out with my younger self." What began as simply combining two photographs became much more than that. It became a picture of 46 years of life, aith, perseverance, healing, and God's amazing grace.

Looking at these two men standing side by side reminds me that God was present at every step of the journey—through the dreams of youth, the struggles of life, the victories, the failures, the tears, and the blessings. He never left me, and He never gave up on me.

My prayer is that everyone who reads my little testimony will be reminded that God never abandons the work He begins in our lives, and that the distance between who we once were and who we are becoming is often measured by His grace.

I pray that my testimony will encourage those who feel they have failed, those who wonder if their lives still have purpose, and those who simply need to know that God is not finished with them yet. Sometimes the most powerful sermons are not preached from a pulpit, but are lived out through a life that continues to trust God through every season.

May God continue to use me, his humble servant, as a vessel to point others toward Him and to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for forgiveness, hope, salvation, and new life. If my journey helps even one person draw closer to God, then every step of this long journey has been worth it.
