David Nichols, Founder & President, Hand Up Ministries, Inc.

At 76 years old, my life stands as a testimony to God's faithfulness and His power to redeem and restore.  I have completed 114 hours of Bible college and have spent my life serving both in the workforce and in ministry.  For more than 29 years, I worked with Dayton Bridestone/Firestone, primarily in management, while also serving part time in ministry until 2003.

Prior to founding Hand Up Ministries, Inc. in 1996, I served as a Gideon for more than three yeras, sharing the Word of God and witnessing firsthand how Scripture can change lives.

That calling to serve led to the birth of Hand Up Ministries, which began with just one man in need of a second change.

Since that humble beginning, God has allowed the ministry to grow far beyond what we could have imagined.  Over the years, Hand Up Ministries has provided housing, hope, and restoration to more than 400 individuals at one time.

Today, we operate four locations and are prayerfully planning for a fifth.  Everything we do is rooted in faith and obedience to God's call-to offer not a handout, but a hand up, helping men rebuild their lives with dignity, purpose, and hope in Christ.

Message from David Nichols
Founder/President

At Hand Up Ministries, we believe that sin is sin- and that every human being is precious in the sight of God.  With opportunity, accountability, and encouragement, lives can be transformed.  Our record speaks for itself.  We do not argue over the Word of God-we live it.

Today, Hand Up Ministries provides housing for more than 400 men.  As times continue to change, the need only grows.  We trust the Lord to provide additional beds/housing so that homelessness can be replace with hope, stability, and purpose.

In 2025, Hand Up Ministries celebrated 29 years of service.  We are proud to share that every member of our staff is a graduate of our program-men who once wore prison uniforms now wear the armor of purpose, walking alongside others as they rebuild their lives.

With expanded housing, we will reach even more individuals and extend this life-changing work to new locations.  We firmly believe that everyone who supports this mission will be rewarded in God's Kingdom.

Your prayers are deeply valued-but so is action.  If you feel called to help change a part of this world, we invite you to join us.  Let us know how you would like to get involved.

May God richly bless you for your generosity, faith, and support
